Coldplay: X&Y

I got the new Coldplay album for Christmas and it's fair to say that I'm listening to it rather a lot!
One track, 'Fix you' has especially struck a chord with me - aparently written for Chris Martin's wife after the death of her father. There are definitely hints at something spiritual, with the "lights which guide you home" and the song's narrator who claims to "try to fix you."
Of course as a Christian it all seems a bit open ended to me. I believe that there is only one person who can truly claim to 'fix' anyone, and that's the Lord Jesus. In the words of the song, we all 'try our best but don't succeed' when it comes to God. And again, we spend all of our lives trying our hardest to get what we want, rather than concerning ourselves with the things that we need - a right relationship with God. And so we've ended up in a bit of a mess - a mess of our own making but one that we can't get out of. But then one day God sent his son into the world to restore those broken relationships. Thank goodness for the one who lived and died to fix the un-fixable.
